Verdict

The Philips Brilliance 499P9H has a lot to offer: the 32:9 broadcast and enormous resolution are good to replace multi-monitor setups in many circumstances, connection is high and the fundamental contrast, colour precision and sRGB gamut coverage are outstanding. However, it cannot deal with more challenging games, and its consistency is weak – thus many pros are serviced better by more traditional displays.

Would that be a good idea to use ultra-wide displays? What you strive for is genuinely dependent. It’s impossible to argue with the superior ultra-wide panels, such as the 499P9H when it comes to movies. Other times it might be modest to go farther. Going farther. Particularly where gaming is included. Such problems might differ between genres, titles, and titles. Thus although some players might not desire a curved ultra-wide screen, others will want it.

Most of the games are not played on ultra-wide displays. You can certainly play on ultra-wide panels. But you could find your HUD a bit out of place or that your perspective doesn’t feel so well-integrated as you play with a regular screen. Also, you can see the difference of Samsung Odyssey G7 vs Samsung Odyssey G9 Gaming Monitor

Overview

It is apparent that if you play with the Philips 499P9H, this screen is ideal for film gaming. For superb first-person shooters, immersive gaming, etc. Size, though, has its limitations and issues, of course.

If you do not have ultra-wide compatibility for the games you play, you will end up on the side of your screen with some black bars.

What about 49′′? It turns out that 49′′ equals a pair of 27′′ displays that collaborate. Taking into account 27′′ is the largest common screen size monitor and the 49′′ is an excellent substitute for two huge screens.

Alternatively, connecting it with a second monitor would give you the screen area of three screens. The Samsung Odyssey G9 Ultrawide Gaming Monitor is in many respects the only display on the market that is similar. Also, you can see the full review of Best Samsung 4k Curved Monitors

Build and Design

The 499P9H is a tad boring in aesthetic terms. This is presumably because this monitor was designed for professional use. The base, the back shelf, and the front bezel are all made of a higher standard black chassis. While the black chassis has been textured rather than transformed into a typical bright design, its look is modest.

This panel is rather large. But with the stand, it weighs just 33lbs or 24lbs. It feels fairly light considering its size. You still want to carry two people, but only because the monitor is so great that when you try to hold it, it is uncomfortable and unworkable.

This SuperWide display is really broad, according to its name. The 49-inch body was meant to replace a pair of 27-inch monitors. How is this possible? It doesn’t appear as though two 27″ monitors would equate to 49′ if you start to do some napkin arithmetic; but remember, these measures are taken diagonally. A 27″ display is closer to 24,” if measured straight across. Fill in two, and you finish up with 499P9H.

Then the curvature is present. When viewed from above, the 1800R curve seems rather steep but is quite soft when looked at directly on. Bending is something over which people are divided. Some adore it, others are indifferent. Whenever you are within typical distances of view, it is impossible to dispute that it is wonderful for a pleasant visual experience.

The one area that you don’t want to utilize curved panels is when you want to show a static menu on a wall-mounted monitor. If you wish to hang a monitor at the front desk over the workers, for example. You’d best be with something flat in those situations. For this type of application, you would probably not select a monitor like the Philips 499P9H. Also, you can see the How to Buy a PC Monitors: Monitors Buying Guide

Performance

A significant distraction is the sheer size of the Philips Brilliance 499P9H. But what is the quality of LCD panels like when you can pass bonkers-wide format? It’s a VA instead of an IPS panel, with advantages and disadvantages. On the top, the colors are bright and the contrast is great, the latter showing a very good static rating of 3,000:1.

The Phillips 499P9H thus makes full use of its support for DisplayHDR 400. This is not, then, the complete HDR experience. But it’s still a punchy panel.

Similarly, in both black and white, there is a minimal sign of compression. In other words, in the light and dark photos, the 499P9H delivers abundant details. The pixel responsiveness is decent and is subject to little to no input pag. It offers a fascinating game proposal using those measurements.

The viewing angles are not very spectacular. That may not be a great surprise because of the type of VA panel. On a screen of this magnitude, where even with the 1800r curvature, the user inevitably views panels from rather extreme angles.

The remaining experience is assessed according to the size, aspect ratio of the huge panel, and resolution. The DPI operates at a rather commonplace level of 108.5 px with 5,120 by 1,400 pixels over 49 centimeters. The advantage is the ability to run Windows with 100% readability scaling. However, this is not a high-density screen that can make ultra-smooth fonts.

Concerning the crazy aspect ratio of 32:9, this is a subjective decision. It certainly implies the mouse across the desktop is a decision between several swipes and the sensitivity to the frenzied end of the range. The optimum multimedia solution is also rarely possible.

Even the full 21:9 video format occupies just a portion of the screen, leaving big black bars on each side of the picture. The results are unmistakably fantastic for games. But it doesn’t provide a much broader picture of the universe of the game.

Competitive online titles like Fortnite simply extend the image progressively, because the ultra-wide panels do not benefit you from the center of vision of the player’s field.

Oh, for the record, 5,120 by the 1,440-pixel grid is a little smaller than 4K pixels, but still a severe charge on your subsystem graphics. You will have to play nicely with a heck of a graphics card.

Monitor Stand

The $500 price range monitor tends to have considerably better stands. The SuperWide Curved Monitor Philips 499P9H 49″ is no exception. This monitor stand employs a very distinctive square shape instead of sitting on two extended arms, like a conventional stand. It’s quite attractive from an aesthetic point of view.

It does not require a lot of desk space from a practical point of view. And the flexibility is considerably better than on most pits. In actuality, the height adjustment is a little over 5 cm and the left to right swivels 20° in each direction. Similarly strong is the tilt that moves 15° in either direction. Although its tilting and rotating panel is considerably lower, it is a VA panel that helps to maintain an efficient viewing angle at all your needs.

Audio Quality

Like other panels in this price range, on the rear of this monitor, there is a pair of 5W speakers, which amount to 10W in the audio output. Surprisingly, they are among the best speakers on a computer monitor you will ever discover. Your supremacy is mostly related to this panel’s size. Bigger displays give more physical room to create, which implies more inconspicuous possibilities to shoot stereos.

These speakers, however, nevertheless have many of the same basic faults as conventional monitor speakers. For example, the sound is not moving in the proper direction. If feasible, you’re better off replacing them, although it is good to take them on board in a crisis. The 3W-5W speaker settings you see so often within 27″ screens are absolutely outlined.

Connection and Ports

Concerning ports, essentially all your bases are covered. Among them, you’ll find a DisplayPort 1.4 input, a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports, and three Type-A USB 3.0 ports. Moving a bit further in, you’ll find a headphone jack and a single USB-C port. It’s ideal for docking because the USB-C connector supports 3.1 Gen2 technology.

Moreover, the unique USB-C connector can push 65W, sufficient for most laptops to be operated and loaded. If you try to use a 16″ or bigger laptop, you may likely have issues because it tends to draw near to 85W. However, smaller devices should not pose an access hurdle.

Another feature of this panel’s business alignment is the integrated KVM switch when it comes to connections and ports. Very helpful for those who are utilizing numerous PCs next to a single monitor and while using a widescreen, it is easy to take advantage of this type of configuration. The same scenario with the GbE controller included simplifying the setup of your network a bit.

Video Quality

Almost often, ultrawide screens look superb. The 499P9H is an incredibly large 49,” but what does that look like? Firstly, you must consider how this panel works with an aspect ratio of 32:9. Quite rare. The proportion is uncommon at a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels.

Philips 499P9H - 49 inch Monitor

Because of all this on the screen, you end up with an approximately 109ppi pixel density. This is like a 25″ monitor 1080p with a viewing distance of around 2 feet. Nothing is unclean when it comes to clarity, and when turning to color everything seems just as brilliant.

Although this monitor was constructed around a VA panel it offers normal VA panel viewing points. The VA alignment also offers many of the other advantages. For example, the luminosity of the 450nits is remarkable, partly contributing to the amazing 3000:1 contrast.

Even while it’s an 8-bit screen, it supports a significantly wider range of colors. This calls for the completion of a 121 percent color space for the sRGB or about 91 percent of Adobe color spaces. This is one of the lesser HDR certifications, admittedly. However, it is a whole step over ordinary color space panels.

Considerations for Gaming

This panel cannot exceed its indigenous 60Hz radiation rate, which is not a problem. After all, this panel was not designed for gaming. Moreover, for console players who prefer to treat the display as a huge TV, the 60Hz refresh rate is still good. It’s only PC players who are going to turn their noses up at 60Hz, to play.

Interestingly, the AMD FreeSync functionality supports Philips 499P9H. You cannot maintain your framerate in a lock with the panel’s refresh rate if you are unfamiliar. And soon, FreeSync is expected for those who do not use AMD technology to operate with G-Sync-enabled GPUs.

Considerations for Other Works

Over such a screen, practically without saying, the Philips 499P9H contains a few imaging modes. This is the case. You may click the display into distinct parts so that many different PCs can be utilized efficiently, or you can give multiple workplaces on a single PC.

Although it’s not precisely a designer monitor designed for individuals working with colors, it’s a color-calibrated ship. The color calibration of Philips is done with a professional degree of precision so that the 499P9H appears the best as soon as you do.

This display supports conventional VESA installation. This feature has cabling with HDMI, a DP cable, a cable, a USB-A-B, a cable with USB-C, and an A-cable. The power brick was constructed inside the screen and some of the monitor’s weight was explained.
