Including an HDMI 2.0 port, 2 USB 2.0 downstream ports, 2 SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen1 downstream connectors, and a DisplayPort, the monitor is also equipped with a USB-C port. Notice that while using the USB-C connection just for video output and power supply, the USB-C hub functionality will not operate correctly, but USB ports can’t most of the time spot my devices. To use the USB downstream port, the DisplayPort 1.2, USB 3.2 Gen1 upstream port, and Power Delivery USB-C cable are necessary for a connection to the display.

The Dell P2721Q 27-inch 4K monitor would not seem out of place in any home office at the simplicity and simplicity of its design. It looks contemporary, professional, and stable. It will be a wonderful screen for most people to be able to work on. Around 3 sides are narrow bezels and the bottom has a wider black chin bezel. It has an elegant edge and a geometric matching base that doesn’t take up too much desk space. Holding it all in silver is a little stand with a metal finish. If you like it, it’s compatible with the VESA wall mount also. The stand also allows you to pivot, spin and rotate the display, providing lots of height adjustability. The full control over the display arrangement is great for productivity, especially if you need to utilize the screen horizontally as well as vertically. A little LED light is positioned on the right to let you know when it is on and there is a power button and a joystick on the back of the tucked-out view to manage the on-show settings. The joystick had been rather steep, of course. It took me a few steps to modify it to what I wanted and I kept choosing the wrong arrow so instead, I would recommend utilizing the desktop program from Dell Display Manager to make it easier and quicker for you to adjust the settings. You may tile several apps on one or more screens using the preset layouts with this program. Also, you can see the comparison between the Samsung Odyssey G7 vs Samsung Odyssey G9 Gaming Monitor

The Dell P2721Q 4K monitor weight is 5.1kg, which makes it easy for one-man work. The attachment to the stand was simply a situation where the handle on the bottom of the screen was slid, clicked on the foundation, and secured. There are also various USB-C cables to connect your gadgets, which are extremely practical and which can work and operate in a matter of minutes.

For cable management, the stand has a hole to thread them through, and the USB-C connectivity will power up to 65W, limiting the number of cables you need to be plugged into your laptop. It all looked neat on my desk. It’s worth noting that there’s no built-in speaker, you’ll need to hook it up with a separate audio device if you need it.

Performance

A LED-backlit monitor with an IPS screen and 4K resolution is the Dell P2721Q 27-inch 4K monitor. It contains 1,07 billion colors, a ratio of 163 pixels, and contrast of 1000:1. To test it, I worked mainly on it, I looked at a movie and also played a few games. I didn’t have trouble seeing papers opening or browsing the web, words seem great, crisp, and clear. Although the colors weren’t as vivid on premium showings, I thought the jobs I was utilizing on the screen were bright and precise enough. It may have been wonderful to have had additional depth in the region. Certainly, blacks could seem on the grey side at times. I felt it was a terrific job to provide the same experience with the 178-degree viewing angle, no matter where I was on the show. There is a larger PPI, better contrast ratio, and more supported displays available, but you would have a much higher cost tag. However, anybody who requires it for productivity activities such as word processing, table management, or web surfing will keep up with display qualité since makers such as graphic designers, and video editors may prefer to be clear. The 5ms reaction time and 60Hz refresh rate will make it not a suitable choice for rapid gaming, if you want to transition between work and gaming, however, you can also take it as a gaming monitor for less demanding games.

There are several preset view modes, which include standard, movie, game, hot and cool, and a custom color mode according to what you use them for. I preferred to settle with Standard since the papers and websites were most balanced. The display features a matte anti-lightning coating that makes it easy to read for extended periods after it stops reflecting, even in a luminous setting. You may also use the ComfortView mode to filter blue light, reduce eye strain and avoid headaches.

The Dell Display Manager app allows multi-taskers to easily download preset settings and modify brightness and contrast. It’s also possible to build up zones of different sizes to capture up to six windows using the easy-to-arrange function. Once configured, when dragged, your windows are automatically sized and snapped within that zone. It’s also got huge yellow boundaries to facilitate things.

The S2721QS uses four buttons below the right side of the bottom bezel instead of a five-way joystick to navigate the monitor’s OSD. These are different in shape and slightly farther away from the power button at the left, but I never unintentionally turned the monitor off when I tried to raise the menu.

Outside of image calibration, the PIP and PBP settings are among the most useful tools in the OSD. You may concurrently watch on your monitor the picture of two linked computers, e.g. a Raspberry Pi and your ordinary PC. With PBP you will be able to divide the two computer screens, and PIP will be within one machine’s picture pup. To access this functionality, you must unfortunately use an HDMI and DisplayPort connection. This is usually disappointing but Dell has no DisplayPort cable in the package, more importantly.

Tweaks, let’s discuss. The OSD features brightness/contrast sliders and a Color menu. You will discover Color’s standard modes: Comfort View, Movie, FPS, RTS, RPS, Warm, Cool, and Custom. On this page, you may find all preset modes. The default settings for each profile did not quickly differentiate Windows 11 from one another by Standard, FPS, RTS, and RPS. Our default testing settings have been conformed to.

The OSD’s Display menu has choices for aspect ratio, sharpness (which is set to 50% by default), reaction speed (8ms), a dark stabilizer, and Smart HDR (which is turned off by default). Advertisement

You can also adjust or even switch off the two S2721QS speakers from the audio menu. The OSD may be controlled using the Menu menu, including the language and how long it remains up when you push a button. You may customize Shortcut keys, how the power button LED operates, and enable Fast Wakeup under the Personalize area.

You can get the monitor display access or turn on DDC/CI and LCD Conditioning from the Others menu. The latter is meant to “help minimize cases of retention of images” and will take “something time to work, depending on the image retention degree.” In our brief time with the monitor we had no image retention problems, so we couldn’t test that. However, it might be useful one day if you want to retain your monitor extremely long.

Image Quality

My priority while buying a 27-inch 4K display from the Dell P2721Q27 is content resolution(Video or Text content). My home office uses this monitor and uses most of the time news readings, articles, paper processing, and video editing. Therefore, even when I view it closely, everything must seem bright and clear. The screen size was too huge for a 4K display when I had to utilize the BenQ 32-inch monitor. It has a pixel density of 163 PPI, compared to a Macbook pro15, which is 220 PPI. I think 27-inch is the optimum size for a 4K monitor. The pixel density is still lower but I no longer see pixelated images or jagged text at a close distance.

The display has a brightness of 350 cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 1000:1, and a reaction time of 5ms. It supports 98% of the sRGB range, 80% of Adobe RGB, and 81% of the DCI-P3 color range following calibration. Color-coverage monitors such as the Dell UP2720Q 4K monitor, certainly could not be comparable with high-end, but for most average consumers this is more than enough. You shouldn’t care when you’re not a skilled graphic designer, photographer, or videographer who wants maximum colors, because the RGB is always the most common color space on the Internet with most devices and applications.

This is due to its restricted color range, poor contrast, and low peak brightness, you will not see the greatest image quality when you see 4 K HDR contents on this monitor.

The screen has a matt surface and performs quite well, particularly in modestly light environments. However, when light shines straight on the display you may still see blindness. The IPS viewing angle is amazing; I can still see the image from both parties with practically little color or luminosity shift.

The display offers a base 60Hz refresh rate at a 4K resolution and eye strain reduction-free lighting. The bleed of color is non-existent and the bleed of the backlight is adequate. I can see lights in the four corners of a whole darkroom but in normal lighting circumstances, they are not visible. I have run the Dell self-diagnostic test and can see that the color is even all across the screen. The main restriction is that in dark environments, the Black is not black enough; rather, because of the average contrast ratio, it seems like dark grey.

The display supports HDCP 2.3, so you may stream video in 4K quality from Netflix or another source. I have played 4K films with MacOS Big Sur on Safari 14. However, the quality is reduced to 1080p. However, it shows HDCP 2.3 support when it is connected to PlayStation 4 via HDMI connection.

FAQ

Why should you buy the Dell P2721Q 27-inch 4K Monitor?

Today’s market is made up of several 4K displays and it takes time to choose which alternative is finest. To preserve text clarity, I searched for 4K monitors from big brand names like Dell, LG, Asus, and HP. I only searched for the 27-inch screens. Larger pixel screens seem not as crisp and clear as my Macbook shows. They have a lesser pixel density. With my USB-C connection and $500 price range I reduced my research down.

Finally, I discovered two appropriate P2721Q and U2720Q displays. The price range of the U2720Q is around $100 but the most costly is the U2720Q. The difference in specifications includes a greater contrast rate, a DP1.4 vs DP1.2, and a USB-C power supply of 80W vs 65W. Dell says that U2720Q is calibrated in factory color in the Ultrasharp series and the color precision is better. The P2721Q is in the Professional series, on the other hand, and may need a color calibrator to correct the colors as required for picture editing or video editing. You will not notice the difference between the two displays if your business does not entail color-critical jobs, and you only need a monitor for your home office.

Are there Alternatives of this Monitor?

Absolutely. If you don’t want to deal with the complex stand or low-quality materials, LG has a 27-inch 4K IPS monitor with identical features for a lot less. LG also offers the 27BL85U, which is similarly equipped with an equally amazing stand and costs around the same. This model does, however, contain USB-C. If you want something with this format and resolution but a wider color gamut for photo work, the Dell U2720Q would be a better option, albeit it will cost you more.

How long will it last?

The Dell S2721QS is expected to last at least five years, three of which will be covered by Dell’s advance-exchange warranty, which means that if something goes wrong, the firm will send you a new monitor first and then let you return the old one once you’ve set it up.
