Monitor Features:

Due to its huge size, the Odyssey G9 can double up as a productivity powerhouse. It can even be divided into several screens through software. A VESA mount ascertains the chance of rotation, tilting, and other fundamental movements. Have it in mind that the monitor features a curvature of 1000R, so viewing angles won’t be perfect. Samsung stated that the horizontal and vertical viewing angles are 178 degrees.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor features a 49-inch 240Hz LED panel with a Dual Quad HD resolution. It possesses a pixel reaction time of 1ms and also works well with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.

Also, the monitor is HDR10+ compliant and brags 1000 bits peak brightness. Moreover, it provides about 88% coverage of NTSC color gamut, 125% sRGB coverage, 92% Adobe RGB coverage, and is color calibrated out of the box.

There isn’t any gaming monitor that’s complete without a gamer-y aesthetic, and therefore the Samsung Odyssey G9 has countless of them. The Infinity Core Lighting that was added allows users to pick between 52 several colors and five lighting effects across the added software. The other features of the Samsung Odyssey g9 are picture-in-picture mode, game mode, eye saver mode, etc.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 play monitors conjointly consists of 2 display Ports one.4 ports, one HDMI port, and one USB Type-C port. Samsung superimposed 2 USB three.0 ports and one three.5mm audio jack too. It weighs about sixteen.7 kilograms in total. The monitor is accessible for purchase at $1,699 on Samsung’s website.

Monitor Design:

The Samsung Odyssey G9 is a horny, striking display not simply because of its size, or its 1000R curve, but also its wonderful, cohesive design. Even the most effective gaming monitors from LG and Asus can’t match what Samsung has achieved here. The vent-like ring around the monitor stand mount screams gaming, but the mixture of glossy white and matte black elements gives the monitor a cultured look.

The monitor’s form could be a win, but the function is more complicated. Its sheer size demands an enormous stand that measures 31 inches wide and 9 inches deep. However, thanks to its arched back, this curved gaming monitor sits even further forward at the sides. Pushed to the very fringe of my desk, each corner measures 17 inches deep.

In other words, the Odyssey G9 is just too big for anyone’s desk. It’ll be too big for you, too, unless your desk is unusually deep; virtually every desk sold on Amazon, in Ikea, or at your local furniture store is between 30 and 36 inches deep. I don’t think it’s fair to call this a flaw of the monitor, but it’s a vital point to know before buying it.

The huge stand does keep the monitor planted, keeping casual screen shake to a minimum. It also contains height, tilts, and swivel adjustment. It doesn’t pivot, but that’s to be expected because the monitor is just too wide to pivot into a vertical orientation. The monitor supports the standard 100x100mm VESA mount and maybe wall-mounted with an adapter included within the box.

Future of monitors: Ultrawide monitor

Monitor Setup:

Undoubtedly, Samsung usually focuses on the planning of its products, which absolutely comes through within the Odyssey G9. The putting in place takes a few minutes or two, and it involves zero loose screws. The stand provides adjustment and optimal placement of this huge screen, with tilt, rotation, and height adjustment. Integrated cable management ensures that everything looks clean, whether or not you have got several sources attached to the current monitor.

The initial thing you observe after turning on the Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor could be a crisp, greatly accurate picture that “pops” off the screen. The factory calibration/tuning becomes worthwhile here, and several other monitors usually don’t look this awesome even after calibration.

The best thanks to getting a high-quality experience with the Odyssey G9 is an accurate placement and seating position. You’ll desire to be relatively close so that the screen fills your field of view, and therefore the curve is wrapping around your head. That happens to be clearly near the monitor, but because of its high resolution and extraordinarily sharp graphics, you’ll be able to comfortably read small text on the monitor.

The Dual QHD resolution is 7.37 million pixels, almost kind of like 8.29 million for 4K. It implies that a PC graphics card requires to be actually powerful to induce the simplest out of this monitor. With a cautious modification of game settings and using G-SYNC, it’s possible to enjoy a pleasing, high frame rate, and high-resolution PC gaming.

Pros:

  • Magnificent colors from the QLED display.
  • Freesync and G-SYNC compatibility
  • Very easy to set up
  • Beneficial for productivity
  • HDMI and DisplayPort connections
  • An ultra-immersive 32:9 aspect ratio.
  • High-quality anti-reflective qualities.
  • Extremely adjustable stand
  • Virtually non-existent input lag.
  • Proper colors from factory tuning
  • QLED implies screen burn-in worries
  • The 1000R curve completes the ultra-wide view.

Cons:

  • Few people are not cool with the curved screen
  • It is expensive
  • It is large
  • Edge Lit LCD
  • Specialized design

What’s up with these 4K monitors? Are they worth purchasing?

Conclusion:

The Samsung Odyssey G9 provides a profound viewing and gaming experience due to its enormous screen size with a steep 1000R curvature, high peak brightness, contrast ratio, and pixel density. In addition, the wide color gamut makes for bright and clear highlights, deep blacks, crisp details, and brilliant colors.

Moreover, its fast response time, 240Hz refresh rate, low input lag, and G-SYNC compatibility ensure a beautiful and smooth performance. Though some units may have brightness flickering, and we patiently hope that the HDR flicker gets fixed soon.

Actually, the official NVIDIA driver with G-SYNC compatibility for the Odyssey G9 is not available yet, so some of these issues will hopefully be well-addressed. Also, you can see a full review of the best budget monitors to buy in 2021

Questions and Answers:

Is the Samsung Odyssey G9 worth it?
The G9 is worth considering if you’re searching for a large curved gaming monitor that can easily replace three displays and wrap you up in its image.

Is the Odyssey G9 4K?
The large 5120 x 1440 resolution yields a 109ppi density, which is more than adequate for gaming. Only 4K displays will be more detailed. The sheer quantity of pixels produced by this panel — the G9 utilizes nearly as many as a 4K screen – will be a more difficult challenge to overcome, necessitating the usage of a powerful graphics card.

Is the Odyssey G9 all in one?
With a 49-inch display, 5,120 x 1,440 resolution, and a 240Hz refresh rate, the Samsung Odyssey G9 is a gaming monitor that has everything you could want in one package.

How do I connect my Samsung Odyssey monitor to my computer?
Connect your display to a power supply first. Connect one end of the power cord to the monitor’s back and the other end to an outlet. Next, plug one end of the cable into an HDMI, Display port, DVI, or VGA connector on your computer. Then plug the monitor into the other end of the wire.

This monitor is amazing for gaming. I’m using a 1080ti but you need a 2080 ti if you want max refresh rate with all graphics in ultra.

HDR is great once you get it tweaked right. You have to run the desktop at 100hz to use 10-bit color for HDR. I also had to use Nvidia color settings to get brightness back after turning on HDR in windows. The Witcher 3 looks amazing on this monitor and so does far cry 5.

Turn on Freesync first then the option for G Sync will be available in the Nvidia control panel. If you play FPS games there is a target in the menus you can turn on. Even just hitting 80-90fps everything is buttery smooth.

Not good for Gaming consoles, it stretches and enlarges the picture too much. I hooked up my PS4 just to see the results. I haven’t tried the picture by picture yet and not sure if I will ever use it as I bought it for computer gaming only.

If you want the best and you got the cash this is probably the best super/ultra-wide for gaming right now. the 49 inch, 1440p, HDR, and 120hz panel is hard to beat right now.

So I guess I got the bad one. Screen tearing, Gsync not working, and also few dead pixels spots. I waited for all this long and this is what I get. I am going to return it and get the Samsung C49rg9. At least, that one is workable with no issue. 120hz 49″ monitor > 240hz 49″ monitor that can’t properly function.

This is a huge step up from my LG 34″ 60hz 4k monitor. It has added to my games, work, and everything else imaginable. I’m 40 something so playing Fortnite is really hard with the target and my eyes lose it (maybe cause I am used to first-person shooters) but the monitor has a built-in “Virtual Target” where I can set it to red (other options available) which is awesome!! There is nothing on the market that compares to this. My 2080Ti Black Edition lets me play at 144FPS constant at so what maxed out no problem. If you have a 2080 ti this is a must!

First off, I hook up everything and I get a fushia pink monitor. Those Fushia pink windows are supposed to be black.

After the extensive waste of time researching .. googling, YouTubing. I have to buy a DisplayPort cable.

I ran out to buy the display port cable. Fushia pink screen is gone.
Brightness is not bright enough.

I am using this for my work and I need to read a lot of text materials. Text is VERY BLURRY. I am beginning to get a headache after 15 minutes of reading.

I had an LG 38 inch widescreen before and was very happy with it as it worked right out of the box with a very bright screen and I did not have to go run out to buy another cable.

VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED. Now the problem is, how will I get this huge box to UPS.
I am returning this. I Will not buy SAMSUNG again.

The resolution is perfect and the curve and refresh rate is better than the other super ultra wides out there. Turn the brightness down to 25 as the default 100 is very bright! Setup g sync with freesync 2 enabled, games look buttery smooth. 120 Hz is so much smoother with gaming and productivity apps.

I ended up returning this device because I couldn’t get it to work. I have a Surface Pro 6 and Surface Pro 7 with a Surface Dock Gen 1, and I could not get any of the devices to connect. I did try adjusting the settings on the monitor in many different ways without success. I also found navigating the menu on the monitor to be very difficult, and I had a lot of difficulties getting to the settings I needed. Maybe my unit was defective. I ended up getting the Dell U4919DW, and it worked great.

The display is gorgeous. Love the design, super clean, solid improvement over previous 49-inch models. Cables are routed into the stand, you won’t see any cables. LED lighting is present but it is not too much, at night time it adds a subtle glow if near a wall. I ended up mounting this monitor to the wall since my previous desk arm (Ergotron HX) could not hold it properly.

During games, I definitely saw a difference between this and my previous CHG90 144hz. HDR looks fantastic, I didn’t see any flickering at 240hz but I can’t comment too much on games since I use this monitor mostly for productivity. Make sure you have a powerful enough PC to take full advantage of this monitor.

BestBuy Review

This monitor has a poor implementation of display stream compressing and when using full-screen mode in many games will cause it to hang your entire pc causing it to crash when using 240hz mode. It’s a really janky monitor, just look at issues people have with it online.

BestBuy Review

I love this monitor. It is worth every single penny, do not even hesitate, just buy it. It should last you until the year 2030, easily. It’s a dream come true, it is impressive, it makes me smile. I don’t even play games… I just use it to see all of my stocks and trade windows, and just love, love, love it. I’m not even using it at 240hz, I’m using it with an older Geforce 1080ti graphics card on a VR laptop. I have none of the reported issues with the first batch, knock-on-wood.

BestBuy Negative Review

Very disappointed about this product for several reasons:

* Nvidia G-Sync Compatible with NO drivers available at launch for the product, and still a month into the launch on the Nvidia site still says it’ll be compatible on the “Upcoming Driver”

* Adaptive Sync Still Causes Several issues with flickering screen

* Backlight Bleeding is very present leaking out of the edge of the monitor, the monitor is not adhering properly to the frame of the display. The monitor was manufactured in June 2020

BestBuy Positive Review

Brought me back to gaming. The best thing for gaming immersion without going into Full VR which is currently (12/19/2020)not quite ready yet.

HDR bleeds incredibly bad and I had to turn it off, DO NOT BUY IF>>> you really want this screen for HDR. anything else is amazing. I did hear an odd popping sound coming from the speakers in the monitor but I turned them off as I have no interest in using them and it has stopped.
