The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were officially announced in August — strangely, only through a press release and Twitter – and they look just as the rumors predicted: slim smartphones with a visor-like camera block that splits the rear cover in half. The Pixel 6 will be available on October 19, so you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on one.

The Google Pixel 6 series, on the other hand, has been confirmed to employ an in-house chipset for the first time – one that hasn’t been seen before been seen in any other phone. Google Tensor is the name of the new bespoke silicon, and the firm has touted all the new phones can accomplish with it.

Due to the limited reveal on social media, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the Google Pixel 6, so we’ll have to wait for a ‘full’ announcement to get all the details.

While the Google Pixel 6 release date has yet to be confirmed, we won’t have to wait long to see the phones, Google has announced that it will launch in the US in ‘fall 2021’ (October or November), as a result, it’ll most likely arrive soon after the October 19 launch event, perhaps alongside Android 12.

Although Google has only revealed a limited amount of information, leakers have given reams of information about the Google Pixel 6 series, and we’re continuously hearing new facts about the phones. Scroll down to see all of the crucial details we’ve learned so far, including photos of the Pixel 6 that we snapped firsthand. Also, you can see iPhone 13 Release Date, Rumors, and Leaks

Google Pixel 6 Leaks & News

  • Google has announced October 19 as the day for the official Pixel 6 launch
  • The camera samples for the Google Pixel 6 Pro have been leaked, and they appear to offer outstanding photography performance so far.
  • The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are also said to include Tensor performance, according to a Google Pixel 6 specifications leak.

Release Date Rumors of Google Pixel 6

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be unveiled during Google’s October Pixel event on October 19, according to the Google announcement.

The Pixel 6 will be available to buy on October 28th, according to leaker Jon Prosser, after pre-orders begin on October 19th. This is backed up by code discovered in the Google Camera app, which indicates that the Pixel 6 Pro will need to upgrade the software on October 27. Understandably, Google would release a camera app upgrade so close to the phone’s release.

Price of Google Pixel 6

The pricing of the Pixel 6 range is difficult to predict since, unlike the Pixel 3 and Pixel 4, the Pixel 5 is a mid-range phone. We don’t know if Google will stay in that pricing range or move back to the high end.

For comparison, the Pixel 5 cost $699 / £599 / AU$999, so we could see pricing close to that. Given the existence of a Pixel 6 Pro, we may see both a mid-range Pixel 6 and a high-end Pro variant, the latter likely costing far more than the Pixel 5. Whereas no official pricing for any phone has been announced, Google hardware chief Rick Osterloh was reported in Der Spiegel as claiming that the Pixel 6 ‘relates in the upper category’ of phones as a mainstream premium product.’

Osterloh, on the other hand, predicted that the Pixel 6 Pro will be “expensive.” Given that he stated that Google phones from the previous two years (including the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4) did not compete in the flagship market segment, Osterloh might be hinting that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro would be more expensive than we anticipated.

However, a rumor claims that the Pixel 6 will cost 649 euros (approximately $760 / £560 / AU$1,045) and the Pixel 6 Pro will cost 899 euros (about $1,050 / £775 / AU$1,450), which doesn’t seem too terrible.

However, the latest news from the manufacturing line is that Google has placed a large order for these phones, indicating that the Pixel 6 series will be widely accessible. Also, you can see a full review of the Apple Watch Series 6: Still the best!

Taking Osterloh’s words in mind, Google may follow Samsung and Apple’s price model in 2021. The iPhone 13 price is $799/£779/AU$1,349, while the iPhone 13 Pro price is $999/£949/AU$1,699. The Samsung Galaxy S21 prices $799 / £769 / AU$1,249, while the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra prices $1,199 / £1,149 / AU$1,849

The Google Pixel 6 will have both a primary sensor and an ultra-wide camera, according to reports. The Google Pixel 6 Pro comes with a 4X optical zoom telephoto lens. Google also claims that the primary wide-angle sensor now lets in 150 % more light, although it doesn’t elaborate. Based on discoveries inside the code of the current version of the Android Camera app, one probable leaked spec implies that the primary camera on both phones will use the 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor. The telephoto lens will be a 12MP sensor, while the ultrawide angle camera will be a 48MP sensor, according to a subsequent Pixel 6 Pro report.

Nonetheless, it looks that the major news is all about Tensor and how Google’s enhanced computational photography would boost both still and video pictures.

Google has stated that it would enhance the computational engine that powers its phones’ cameras, with the new capabilities scheduled to arrive with the Pixel phones in the autumn. Google says it’s working with image specialists to improve the accuracy of its cameras’ images of people of color. That involves modifying the Auto White balance to minimize the over-brightening of darker skin tones and creating more accurate determination for different types of hair so a certain hair stands out more from a photo’s backdrop.

The Android 12 Beta code also mentions that the Pixel 6 Pro will have a specific “p21 front setup” function that the ordinary Pixel 6 won’t have. 9to5 Google believed that this may be a reference to the Pixel 6 Pro’s ability to capture 4K selfie videos.

On the point of camera features, a recent breakdown of the Google Camera app has purportedly exposed some of the Pixel 6’s capabilities. The breakdown suggests 4K video recording at 60 frames per second, the reintroduction of features such as the magic eraser and a ‘face deblur’ option, as well as manual white balance adjustment.

Furthermore, camera images from a Google Pixel 6 Pro appear to have been released. While the photos aren’t the best we’ve seen, they do show how the Pixel 6 Pro might employ pixel binning to generate 12.5-megapixel images from a 50-megapixel camera. Since a result, the camera system will have greater flexibility, as it will have more data to apply strong computational photography to images; at the very least, anticipate sharper, more colorful shots and enhanced night mode. Tensor Chip

The Google Pixel 6’s main feature is the new Tensor SoC, which is largely focused on AI and machine learning. A blurry photograph of a kid, for example, might be sharpened using the Tensor Processing Unit. The TPU would detect the hazy image as a face and make the appropriate modifications.

The Pixel 6 can also enhance video using AI and computational photography. The Pixel 6 can automatically change the white balance and boost the dynamic range while capturing a sunset, for example.

While utilizing speech-to-text, the TPU allows you to modify words on the keyboard while speaking, and the speech-to-text process is very fast. These are only a handful of the many things that tensors can perform.

In a new Google Pixel 6 advertisement, the aforementioned characteristics appear or are extensively hinted at the Tensor chip is said to be capable of sophisticated translation, photography, and speech recognition, as well as user-centric customization.

The Tensor processor might have a future beyond the Pixel 6 range, according to Google. If the Pixel Fold turns out to be more than a rumor, Tensor will power it, according to a report. Also, you can see the review of the Gigabyte Aorus Fv43u Gaming Monitor

We’ll be curious to see how the Tensor system-on-chip stacks up against the Snapdragon 888, which is found in the majority of Android flagships. According to leaked Geekbench findings, the Snapdragon 888 has nothing to fear, since the figures claimed to be a Tensor-powered smartphone didn’t even come close to the top Snapdragon scores. That might, however, be a pre-production device that hasn’t been tuned for performance — if it reflects the Tensor experience.

The tensor will feature Snapdragon 870-level performance, keeping it behind the Snapdragon 888, as per a recent leak. That implies Tensor will be capable, but not as capable as the 888 or even Apple’s A15 Bionic. The tensor will also feature two big 2.8GHz cores, two 2.25GHz cores, and four smaller 1.8GHz cores, according to the source.

Design and Color

Design and Color of Google Pixel 6

The most obvious aspect of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is their design. Dual Pixel phones feature a two-tone design with a large black rectangular camera bar running across the tops of their backs.

Pink, bluish-gray with a soft yellow accent, and a black variant with a light-gray top accent hue are among the Pixel 6’s color possibilities. The white Pixel 6 Pro with a cream or pale slate accent bar and pale orange with a stronger orange accent is the black-on-gray variant.

The glass back appears to be matte for the most part however, the region above the camera bar appears to be brighter and glossier.

The Pixel 6’s front is nearly entirely made of screen, with a centered hole punch cutout for the selfie camera. It’s also nice to see how small the display’s bezels are.

Another nice change is that Google has ditched the Pixel 5’s under-display earpiece in favor of a more conventional earpiece speaker on the Pixel 6. The speaker has been criticized for being overly loud and leaking sound.

Google has already shown off, how the Pixel 6 Pro looks in the hand, by a video, and an Instagram post that also gives us a good look at the Substance You design changes made by Android 12.

A camera block juts out over the width of the rear, and a three-tone color scheme comes in a variety of configurations. The Pro variant has extra space above the camera block, which on the Pixel 6 Pro has glossy silver borders and on the ordinary Pixel, 6 has matte black corners. Flip the phone over to the front, and you’ll find an all-screen design with a center punch-hole for a selfie camera – a design that Google has subsequently used in video advertisements.

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are even on exhibit in New York City, albeit they are hidden behind glass and only visible from the rear. We took some photographs of the phones, which you can see in the gallery below.

Some information has been leaked, including the Pixel 6 Pro’s measurements, which are 163.9 x 75.8 x 8.9mm. The phone also boasts dual audio speakers, according to reports.

Display

The Pixel 6 Pro sports a slightly curved 120Hz screen of about 6.7 inches, according to Marques Brownlee, while the basic Pixel 6 has a smaller 90Hz flat screen.

Further than that, we’re in leak territory for more display specifications, with one source reporting a 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display on the Google Pixel 6 Pro.

In a leaked hands-on video, you can see that screen. The back also appears to be glossier here than in official photos.

Also, another source claims the Pixel 6 Pro will feature a 1440 x 3120 screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and we’ve also heard that the Pixel 6 Pro will have a QHD resolution while the Pixel 6 will have a 6.4-inch flat screen.

Jon Prosser agrees on the screen size, pointing out that both models are OLED and that the Pixel 6 Pro’s screen is 6.71 inches. A Chinese source has also confirmed the identical screen specifications for both phones. Also, you can see a full review of the Dell P2721Q 27-inch 4k Monitor

Battery Life

There’s no official word on the battery, but numerous reports suggest the Pixel 6 Pro will feature a 5,000mAh battery, while the Pixel 6 will have a smaller one. We’ve heard a similar claim elsewhere, but this leak also includes information on the Pixel 6’s battery, which is 4,614mAh. Since then, another source has provided the same battery sizes.

We’ve already heard that the phones would enable wireless charging, which is predictable.

These might, however, allow quicker wireless charging than the Pixel 5’s 12W, since evidence of a newer wireless charger has been discovered in Android 12 code, along with mention of fans – a feature that keeps the phone and charger cool when putting out a lot of power. Also, more evidence was provided by shops that may be able to supply the wireless charger, indicating that the power output may reach 23W.

We’ve heard numerous times that wired charging will get a speed bump, with one source claiming 33W charging, up from 18W on the Pixel 5. Nevertheless, that charger will not be included in the package, since the Pixel 6 will not come with one at all.

Fingerprint Reader

We’re glad to announce that Google appears to be moving away from a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor in favor of an under-display fingerprint scanner on the Pixel 6. It should make unlocking the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro a lot easier. But, we don’t know if the sensor is an optical scanner or employs ultrasonic technology. What is your expectation from Google Pixel 6?

Not only will we be flooded with current phones like the Galaxy S21 by the time the Pixel 6 comes, but Apple will almost certainly have released the iPhone 13. With such fierce competition, Google will have its work cut out for it to make the Pixel 6 stand out.

Here’s how we think Google will do it.

120Hz display

The 90Hz refresh rate on the Pixel 5 is excellent, but a 120Hz refresh rate would be much better, and we’d love to see that on the Pixel 6. That faster refresh rate will take games up a level, especially with services like Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming bringing big-budget game streaming to phones.

HDMI Support

We understand Google’s desire to encourage consumers to purchase a Chromecast, but there’s no reason why the Pixel 6 can’t output HDMI video through a USB-C to HDMI connection. It’s really useful to be able to connect your phone to a TV in this manner, especially when traveling. It feels antiquated to have to utilize a Chromecast to transfer entertainment from your phone to a TV, so this is something Google should simply address.

Atleast Three camera setup

With three cameras becoming the industry standard, Google’s Pixel phones stand out as an anomaly with only two back lenses. With a trio of cameras — the primary shooter, telephoto, and ultrawide camera combo — the Pixel 6 Pro appears to be following a similar trend. It will also keep Pixel’s position as one of the best photography phones.
