Verdict

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is a massive gaming monitor with some of the most advanced technology we’ve ever seen in a PC display. However, most people would probably never be able to afford it due to its exorbitant price and huge size.

The Odyssey G9 nEO Gaming Monitor from Samsung is desperate to live up to its title. As a result, everything from its conventional technology features to its incredible size and unique curve is designed for boosting your gaming experience.

Professional monitors used to be the only ones with mini LED backlights. With LEDs half the size of normal LED displays, a Mini LED backlight may provide a higher number of dimming zones, achieving a level of contrast that is comparable to OLED but without the risk of burn-in. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is one of the first gaming monitors to have the expensive technology, as well as the largest and most expansive.

Apart from a 4K resolution, the Odyssey Neo G9 offers about every feature you might desire in a gaming monitor. It has a 32:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 5120 x 1440, making it ultrawide. It has a high 240 Hz refresh rate, a 1ms response time, Nvidia G-Sync compatibility, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro for gaming.

But again the true star is Samsung’s Quantum Mini LED backlight, which uses LEDs that are 1/40th the size of normal LEDs. Samsung claims that the technology provides for higher resolution as well as “finer differences between light and dark” due to an impressively low black level of only 0.0004 nits. With HDR, Samsung promises a brightness of up to 2,000 nits. Also, you can see the Gaming Monitor – Samsung Odyssey G9 Full Review

Design

The Odyssey Neo G9 is Samsung’s biggest 1000R gaming monitor, according to the company’s marketing materials. The first thing to consider is the curve itself. the human eye’s curvature is said to be the same curvature as that of the 1000R radius.

While it takes some getting accustomed to, it does make a strong argument for more immersion—at least in some scenarios. As you can see, this is a fairly sharp tool. Also, you can see the Comparision of Samsung Odyssey G7 vs Samsung Odyssey G9

Secondly, owners of tiny workstations are not eligible to participate in the contest. Thanks to its curvature, it measures a little more than 45 inches from left to right—and about 11.5 inches from front to back—and that’s without the stand. By the time you’ve added it all up, the monitor is more than 21 inches off the wall. With the stand, the monitor’s height increases by roughly 2 inches, although vertical space is usually more abundant in most configurations.

If you hang the Odyssey Neo G9 on the wall using the supplied 100x100mm bracket, you may still need to create room. Because so much of the display isn’t attached to the stand, it’s a lot more wobbly than other models. Also, you can see Samsung odyssey G9 vs Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo

In contrast, the bottom bezel is much broader than its top and side counterparts. From the front, all you can see is black, but the rear is a whole different tale. Both the stand and the ports on the rear are covered by detachable plastic covers, giving the device a sci-fi appearance.

But it doesn’t mean there’s no room for color. With the Infinity Core scheme, you may choose from five distinct designs and 52 different colors for the backlighting of the depression where the stand attaches to the display.

Performance

The first time you use this monitor, you’ll be blown away by its performance. Samsung managed to increase the peak brightness of the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 from 1,000 nits to 2,000 nits. HDR 2000 is the finest HDR you’ll find outside of playing your PC games on a top-end OLED TV, according to the company. Also, you can see the Gaming Monitor –  Samsung Odyssey G7 Review

Samsung’s new Quantum Mini LED technology, which is powering its newest QLED TVs, is also included in this outstanding list. It boasts 2,048 local dimming zones, which is a huge increase over last year’s model’s meager 10 zones.

During our assessment in 2020, we saw that in gloomy situations, there was a bit of bloom coming from bright portions of the screen. This was especially obvious in loading screens, when you just had a tiny logo in one corner of the screen, the rest of which was black. It just illuminated that entire nook.

In no way was this a deal-breaker, but it’s not a problem this time around.

We probably spent around 10 minutes or so playing Doom Eternal, failing repeatedly on a platforming portion, and were taken away by how amazing the game looks. All of the colors jump on the screen thanks to the high-end HDR, and the local dimming zones make the darkest sections of images seem amazing. And, well, that game has quite a few gloomy regions. But it’s not simply a matter of aesthetics. Due to the game’s high framerate, the 240Hz refresh rate makes it feel smooth and fluid.

There aren’t many games you’ll be able to run at 240 frames per second on this card. In terms of resolution, the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is just 12 percent behind a full 4K display. You’ll be lucky to reach 100 frames per second, let alone 240, in most games at that resolution, even with RTX 3080.

The Neo G9’s performance will take a while to become commonplace on a display that costs as much as the Neo G9.

Price and Availability

It will cost $2,499 (AU$2,999 / approximately £1,809) when it launches on August 9, 2021. Preorders will start on July 29, 2021, if you’d want to get your hands on it right soon. Also, you can see Best 49-inch gaming monitors

Although this is one of the most costly gaming monitors on the market, its performance is unmatched by other displays. HDR 2000 is the only HDR certification for a gaming monitor, which means it beats out the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ and maybe the finest HDR gaming display available today.

Only if you have a lot of money to burn in your pocket should you consider purchasing this gaming monitor. Our best guess is it will feel like a high-end, high-quality product.
