Versatile 200 W converters available in 1″x1″ package for industrial applications

TDK Corporation announces the introduction of the TDK-Lambda brand 200W rated i1C series in the 1”x1” industry standard package size. These non-isolated, buck-boost DC-DC (step-up, step-down) converters operate from input voltages of either 9 to 36V or 18 to 75V. The i1C series offers output voltages adjustable from 9.6 to 28V with output currents of up to 10A.

The series is ideal for generating a wide range of high-power DC outputs from 12, 24, and 48V system voltages in medical, industrial, test, measurement, and battery-powered equipment such as Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Industrial Mobile Robots (IMR), and drones. The i1C models can also replace existing isolated converters, providing a higher power migration path for applications requiring additional output power, as the isolation barrier is often provided by the AC-DC source.

The i1C has a remarkable efficiency of up to 98%, allowing the converters to deliver high usable power in demanding thermal environments with case temperatures of -40^oC and up to +120^oC, while providing a longer battery life. Dimensions and pin-out are compatible with the industry standard 1” x 1” footprint, measuring 26.42 x 26.42 x 10.2mm (W x L x H). The converters are encapsulated to provide enhanced shock and vibration performance and the five-sided aluminum case reduces radiated EMI for easier system compliance.

As standard, models include an output voltage adjustment pin, positive or negative logic remote on-off, input under-voltage, over-current, and thermal protection.

All models carry the CE and UKCA marks for the Low Voltage and RoHS Directives and are designed to the IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety standards. Evaluation boards are available for quick and easy testing.

DC-DC series targets safety-critical applications

RECOM has introduced new DC/DC converters in the REM2A and REM4A series, designed for medical and safety-critical applications. These converters, available in through-hole and SMD formats, offer 5kVAC/1 min isolation and 2MOPP rating at 250VAC with 8mm creepage and clearance. The devices are suitable for various patient connect applications due to their low 2µA leakage current.

The converters feature 2:1 input ranges and multiple fixed, regulated DC output options. They operate across wide temperature ranges without derating at nominal inputs and can function at higher temperatures with airflow or derating. The devices include protection against various electrical issues and offer an on/off control for energy-sensitive applications.

These DC/DC converters hold certifications for medical safety and IT applications, and are specified for operation up to 5000m in pollution degree 2 environments. RECOM reports a Mean Time Between Failures of over 5 million hours at 25°C for both series. The compact packages measure 24.3 x 14.4 x 10.2mm and come with a three-year warranty.

Compact dc-dc converters accommodate multiple nominal inputs

TRACO Power announces the release of the TEC 3UI series of 3 W dc-dc Converters with 9-75 VDC input ranges in a SIP-8 package. The wide input range allows for 12, 24, 28, 36 and 48 VDC nominal inputs in one converter.

The TEC 3UI series offers an 8:1 input voltage range, providing a solution for applications requiring cost efficiency and compact size. These converters are IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 safety approved for industrial use.

Key aspects of the TEC 3UI series include the 9–75VDC input range, SIP-8 package, single and dual output models from 3.3 to 15 VDC, full load operation from –40°C to +80°C without derating, 2,000 VDC I/O isolation, short circuit protection, over current limitation, and remote on/off function.

The TEC 3UI models are currently available through TRACO Power’s global distribution network.
