Bourns, Inc. released its Model SRP-F Series shielded power inductors. The nine models in the series feature low DCR with flat wire construction in a small, low-profile (0.7 to 1.0 mm) form factor. The flat wire construction improves the efficiency of these new power inductors by significantly reducing DCR compared to other similarly sized power inductor devices that use conventional wire.

The models in the SRP-F Series are designed with a metal alloy powder core, flat wire technology, and advanced molding technology to achieve a higher saturation current and heating current level with low radiation in a small form factor. The series delivers a low buzz noise solution with an inductance range of 0.3 – 10 µH and an operating temperature range of –40 to +125 °C. These features are required in a growing variety of space-constrained applications that require high current, but must also meet lower power consumption goals, such as in consumer, industrial, and telecom application DC-DC converters and power supplies.

The Bourns Model SRP-F Shielded Power Inductor Series is available now and is RoHS* compliant and halogen free**.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. introduced the industry’s first 1 Form A solid-state relay to offer AEC-Q102 qualification and a 100 V load voltage. Offered in the low profile SOP-4 package, the Vishay Semiconductors VORA1010M4 delivers the industry’s fastest turn-on and turn-off times of 0.1 ms typical, in addition to the highest operating temperature of +125 °C.

The fast turn-off time of the optically isolated device released today is a result of its integrated turn-off circuit, while its combination of a state-of-the-art infrared emitter and photovoltaic diode array delivers its fast turn-on time. This switching performance makes the solid-state relay ideal for safety-critical applications, while its compact SOP-4 package saves space over competing solutions in the DIP-4 package.

Offering an isolation voltage of 3750 VRMS, the Automotive Grade VORA1010M4 is designed to provide clean, bounce-free switching for glass dimming, lighting control, inverters, motor controls, and battery management systems (BMS) in electric (EV) and hybrid electric (HEV) vehicles; industrial motor drives and controls; security and automation systems; and telecom servers and data centers.

Available in tape-and-reel packing, the device is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.

Samples and production quantities of the VORA1010M4 are available now, with lead times of eight weeks.

Diodes Incorporated releases two USB Type-C Power Delivery (PD) 3.1 extended power range (EPR) sink controllers. These can be embedded into battery-powered devices and other types of equipment using a USB Type-C socket as a power source, including routers, wireless speakers, power banks, and power tools. The AP33771C and AP33772S support product designers transitioning from proprietary charging ports, legacy USB ports, and barrel-jack ports to a standardized USB PD port, while also enabling them to develop smaller applications that can charge more quickly using fewer components.

The AP33771C and AP33772S control DC power requests in USB Type-C connector-equipped devices, supporting PD3.1 EPR up to 140W and adjustable voltage supply (AVS) up to 28V. They can outperform other competing devices that typically only support up to AVS 21V. For maximum flexibility in systems without an MCU, the AP33771C offers multiple power profiles including eight resistor-settable output voltage levels and eight output current options. Alternatively, the AP33772S features an I2C communications interface for systems with a host MCU.

Both the AP33771C and AP33772S feature smart, standard built-in firmware for practical applications like LED light indication, cable voltage drop compensation, and moisture detection. While no programming is required to activate this feature in the AP33771C, designers have the option of using I2C commands to configure the AP33772S. These sink controllers also feature 34V tolerant CC pins to offer robust system protection against accidental shorts to the high-voltage VBUS. The sink controllers also help to reduce the bill of materials (BOM) by supporting NMOS FETs for input voltage delivery.

The AP33771C is available in the small-footprint W-DFN3030-14 (Type A1) (3mm x 3mm) package at $0.79 in 1,000 piece quantities, while the AP33772S is available in the W-QFN4040-24 (Type A1) (4mm x 4mm) package at $0.84 in 1,000 piece quantities.
