Navitas Semiconductor has released an 8.5 kW power supply unit (PSU) that utilizes GaN and SiC technologies and has achieved 98% efficiency for AI and hyperscale data centers.

The AI-optimized 54V output PSU meets Open Compute Project (OCP) and Open Rack v3 (ORv3) specifications. It incorporates GaNSafe and Gen-3 Fast SiC MOSFETs in 3-phase interleaved PFC and LLC topologies, delivering high efficiency and performance with reduced component count. The 3-phase topology for both PFC and LLC results in low ripple current and EMI. The design uses 25% fewer GaN and SiC devices compared to alternative systems, reducing costs. The PSU operates with input voltage from 180 to 264 Vac, provides 12V standby output, and functions between -5°C to 45°C. At 8.5 kW, it maintains a 10 ms hold-up time, extensible to 20 ms.

The 3-Phase LLC topology uses high-power GaNSafe, which is designed for high-power applications in AI data centers and industrial markets. The 4th generation technology integrates control, drive, sensing, and protection features. GaNSafe includes short-circuit protection (350ns max latency), 2kV ESD protection on all pins, eliminates negative gate drive, and offers programmable slew rate control. These features operate with 4-pins, allowing package use similar to discrete GaN FET without requiring a VCC pin. The 650V GaNSafe in TOLL and TOLT packages suits applications from 1 kW to 22 kW, with RDS(ON)MAX ranging from 25 to 98 mΩ.

The 3-Phase interleaved CCM TP-PFC uses Gen-3 Fast SiC MOSFETs with “trench-assisted planar” technology developed through ongoing SiC innovation. This technology delivers consistent performance across temperatures, supporting EV charging and AI data center applications.

The PSU addresses power infrastructure challenges data centers face when implementing advanced AI GPU systems. It will be exhibited at Electronica 2024 (Hall C 3, booth 129, November 12th–15th).

The PSU will be displayed for the first time at Electronica 2024 (Hall C 3, booth 129, November 12th– 15th).

Advanced Energy has announced the NCF150 series of high-isolation, low-leakage current AC-DC power supplies that enable medical equipment designers to meet the cardiac floating (CF) requirements of the IEC 60601-1 medical safety standard using off-the-shelf products.
Type CF is the most stringent medical electrical safety classification and is essential for medical products that may come in direct contact with the heart, including dialysis machines, cardiac-related systems, and platforms for electrosurgery. With the launch of its SL Power NCF150 series of CF-rated AC-DC power supplies, Advanced Energy now offers standard, compact products that combine the performance and reliability demanded by complex medical systems with the high isolation voltage and low leakage current essential for CF certification.
Advanced Energy’s SL NCF150 series delivers maximum output power up to 150 W and offers voltages of 12 V, 15 V, 19 V, 24 V, and 48 V. An optional 5 V standby and 12 V fan output are also available. All units in the SL NCF150 series have a patient leakage current below 10 mA, feature EMI Class B, 2 MOPP isolation and 5 kV defibrillator pulse withstand capabilities.
SL NCF150 power supplies accept a universal input of 85 to 264 VAC, operate with a full-load efficiency greater than 90 percent, and feature protection against overvoltage, overload, overtemperature, and short-circuit conditions as standard. This is the first release of the CF rated family and will be followed by higher-power models launching soon.

TDK-Lambda expands its GENESYS series with the introduction of new programmable AC power sources. The GAC and GAC-PRO models, rated at 2kVA and 3kVA, enhance the company’s test and measurement capabilities. These 1U chassis units offer compact design and comprehensive functionality for various applications.
The GAC-PRO models provide extended capabilities, including AC, DC, and combined AC+DC operation. They maintain full-rated power and current in DC modes and feature advanced functions like waveform generation and harmonics analysis. The GAC-PRO also incorporates real-time analog control for complex test scenarios such as hardware in the loop.
TDK-Lambda’s parallel system allows users to combine 2kVA and 3kVA units for increased power and multiple-phase outputs. The products feature a capacitive touch display for front panel controls, supporting multiple languages including Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.
The units come standard with LAN, USB, RS232, RS485, and Analog Programming/Monitoring interfaces, with an optional IEEE/GPIB. Included remote GUI software enables full control, sequence programming, and pre-programmed test standards for IEC, aerospace, and marine tests, potentially reducing test time and labor costs.
The GAC02 and GAC03 models measure 423mm wide, 544.5mm deep, and 43.6mm high, weighing less than 8kg. They come with a five-year warranty and are safety-certified to IEC/EN/UL 61010-1 with CE and UKCA marking. The models comply with IEC/EN 61204-3 for conducted and radiated EMI and EMC immunity.
TDK-Lambda plans to expand the GENESYS AC line with 6/9kVA power levels in the coming months.
