We recently filmed a short video with Chad Ghalamzan from Infolytica, which is now part of Mentor Graphics, a Siemens business. Infolytica develops simulation software called Motorsolve for magnetics as you might find in motors used in electric vehicles. Motorsolve is electric motor design software that allows an engineer to do virtual prototyping of their motor. It facilitates the review of different design considerations before building a physical prototype and exploring options such as in materials to see what design options would help meet performance requirements.
In a simulation of motor models, engineers might derive factors such as the motor speed-torque curve, efficiency, power, back EMF, and other common motor parameters and performance considerations that are necessary when trying to meet performance specs. Motorsolve can also give a thermal profile of the machine. It can give an accurate prediction of the heat produced and cooling options to keep the machine in the performance range necessary.
The program’s magnet software is general purpose and can handle a wide range of electromagnetic-based applications such as power transformers, sensors, actuators, valve chokers.
