Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ:LFUS) introduced its PULSE-GUARD® PGB2 0201 Series Surface Mount Polymeric ESD Suppressors, which are the smallest size polymer composite electrostatic discharge (ESD) suppressors in the market. The new suppressors are designed to help protect a broad range of sensitive electronic equipment from ESD damage.
The new PGB2 0201 Series suppresses fast-rising ESD transients (as specified in IEC 61000-4-2) but adds virtually no capacitance to the circuit. The ultra-low capacitance value will not distort high-speed data or high-frequency radio frequency (RF) signals, maintaining signal integrity while providing ESD protection. These ESD Suppressors supplement the on-chip protection of integrated circuitry and are best suited for low-voltage, high-speed applications.
A number of features of the PGB2 0201 Series, including ultra-low capacitance (0.07 picofarads), low leakage (less than one nanoamp), bi-directional operation, and wide operating temperature range (-65oC to +125oC), help ensure its high level of performance. Their environmentally friendly construction is 100 percent lead-free, halogen-free and compliant with RoHS requirements.
The PGB2 0201 Series is optimized for use in a variety of applications: HDMI, USB3.0, USB2.0, eSATA, video and audio ports, RF antennas, LCD and LED HDTVs; desktop and notebook PCs; computer peripherals; smartphones; digital cameras; industrial instruments including medical equipment; set-top boxes and gaming consoles.
“This series offers the only 0201 size surface mount ESD suppressor on the market with the lowest capacitance to ensure high data rates with minimal interference. The small footprint design gives circuit designers the flexibility to create board-space-efficient, cost-effective solutions for guarding against damage due to ESD,” said Matthew Chan, Littelfuse Global Product Manager.
