Power supplies and current sensing circuits have requirements that are as diverse as the end products they serve. Some applications, for example, need low TCR without requiring low values associated with metal alloy resistors. It can be challenging to find such a resistor. Thick film technology is generally used for higher sense resistor values, but they have poor TCR. While metal element resistors are normally chosen for superior TCR but are not available in higher values.

Stackpole’s CSRT Series offers solutions to bridge the gap between these opposing requirements. The CSRT offers wide termination devices which offer high power ratings and reduce the issues with part or solder joint cracking due to their wide termination area. Stackpole recently improved the TCR for these wide termination sizes to 100 ppm for all values offered.

The CSRT is a good choice for power supplies for currents between 2A and 17A, such as industrial power control, displays, consumer electronics, telecom, computer, measurement equipment, battery management, and LED drivers.
