Bourns, Inc. released its Model SRP-F Series shielded power inductors. The nine models in the series feature low DCR with flat wire construction in a small, low-profile (0.7 to 1.0 mm) form factor. The flat wire construction improves the efficiency of these new power inductors by significantly reducing DCR compared to other similarly sized power inductor devices that use conventional wire.

The models in the SRP-F Series are designed with a metal alloy powder core, flat wire technology, and advanced molding technology to achieve a higher saturation current and heating current level with low radiation in a small form factor. The series delivers a low buzz noise solution with an inductance range of 0.3 – 10 µH and an operating temperature range of –40 to +125 °C. These features are required in a growing variety of space-constrained applications that require high current, but must also meet lower power consumption goals, such as in consumer, industrial, and telecom application DC-DC converters and power supplies.

The Bourns Model SRP-F Shielded Power Inductor Series is available now and is RoHS* compliant and halogen free**.

Bourns, Inc. introduced its Model CWP3230A Series chip inductors. These AEC-Q200-compliant automotive-grade inductors feature high current, inductance, and impedance in a compact form factor. The new series’ high impedance and current capabilities make them ideal for applications using coaxial cable, where both power and video signals are simultaneously transmitted. Bourns Model CWP3230A Series enables designers to decrease the number of inductors and chip beads in the circuit, to save space and reduce development costs.

The CWP3230A Series is designed with a ferrite powder core, and bifilar and trifilar windings to achieve a higher saturation current and heating current level in a small size. The series has an inductance range of 2.2 – 47 µH and an operating temperature range of -50 to +150 °C. These features are required in a growing variety of space-constrained ADAS applications that must also meet lower power consumption goals such as in Power over Coax (PoC) vehicle camera modules.

The Bourns Model CWP3230A Chip Inductor Series is available now and is RoHS* compliant and halogen free**.

Sumida America has introduced the CDPQ****/T150 Series of high-current power inductors. This new design features a combination of precision flat-wire windings and large tinned copper surface mounting pads to enhance current handling capacity. These inductors are magnetically shielded, AEC-Q200 qualified, and suitable for onboard chargers.

The flat wire coil is closely wound to increase its effective cross-sectional area and encased in a high-permeability ferrite core to minimize physical size. The high surface area of the flat wire windings helps to minimize internal resistance at high frequencies.

The CDPQ2014/T150 is available in inductance values of 1, 2.2, and 3.3 µH, with maximum saturation current ranging from 16 to 48 amps at 150°C. The larger CDPQ2717/T150 follows a similar design and is available in inductance values of 2.2, 3.3, and 4.7 µH, with a maximum saturation current range of 16 to 48 amps at 150°C. Both models have an absolute maximum voltage rating of 300Vdc. Operating temperatures range from -40°C to +150°C, including the device’s self-temperature rise. Other values are available for OEM orders.

Applications for these inductors include use as a buck/boost inductor for Onboard Chargers (OBC) in electric vehicles (xEV), DC-DC converters, point-of-load converters, computer peripherals, LED drivers, class D audio amplifiers, and other high-performance power applications.

The CDPQ2014/T150 measures 14.5×21.4×23.5 mm (HWD), while the CDPQ2717/T150 measures 16.5×27.5×27.5 mm. Both devices are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free. They are suitable for solder reflow temperatures up to 260°C peak and comply with IPC/JEDEC Moisture Sensitivity Level 1, offering unlimited floor life at ≤30°C/85% RH. Full application engineering support is available.

Sumida CDPQ2014/T150 and CDPQ2717/T150 Series power inductors are now available for sampling.
